Golha Project

Dijit.net is involved in the Golha Radio project which will provide a comprehensive database and research archive of the Golhā Radio Programmes which were broadcast on Iranian National Radio from 1956 through 1979.

The project has been supported by the British Library Endangered Archives Program, the Music Department of the School of Oriental and African Studies University of London (SOAS), The British Institute of Persian Studies (BIPS), the Iran Heritage Foundation (IHF) and the Parsa Foundation.

These programmes covered the entire history of classical as well as contemporary Persian music and poetry.

Over 1500 programme recordings have been found, digitised and now catalogued for this website using an application Dijit.net developed to enable a continuous audio file to be tagged at specific 'cue-points' and key information added. A bespoke content management system was developed to enable researchers the ability to preview the audio programmes 'mark' a point in time where music genres change or new artists appear within a piece of music and add the information at that specific 'cue-point'. Content markers are then added to the audio at these points, which enables the jumping to a start point with one audio file.

Users of the website are then provided with powerful search tools to enable the filtering on a number of criteria such as Modal system, Melodic segment, Poetic genre, First hemstitch of the poem sung, First line of the song, Name of the song, Instrument, Singer of the song etc. etc.
